thriller being developed by writer/director Dan Goldman and Executive
Producers Dale Oprandy and Joey Travolta. The project is expected to go into production in 2005.
The
Story
An ambitious money collector for a Vegas loanshark is
forced into a corner when he is assigned to mentor the low-life son of his
boss.
Synopsis
Just
weeks away from opening up a new club outside of
Vegas, Rick Dolan is reassigned back to his old job, collecting money for
his bottom-feeding loanshark boss, Big Vince Simone.
It’s a big step down for Rick and he finds
himself dealing not only with his own disappointment, but also that of his
stage-struck girlfriend and his closest friend whose restaurant has just
been taken over by Big Vince.
In addition, Vince’s 22-year-old delinquent
son, Little Vince, is getting out of jail and the boss wants Rick to show
the kid the ropes. It doesn’t take long for
Rick to conclude that his career has reached an all-time low.
On what should
be a routine raid on the warehouse of a rival gangster, a couple of the
rival’s soldiers show up and Little Vince kills them both. Rick is not amused.
But
then, before leaving, Rick and Little Vince accidentally stumble on the
dead guys’ stash of loot – five million of it. Against Rick’s better
judgement, he and Little Vince make a pact
to split the money between themselves and not tell Big Vince.
True to his character, Little Vince tries to
double-cross Rick and take all the money and blame it on Rick. Luckily Rick has anticipated such an eventuality and has
pulled a fast one on the kid. It
is Rick and his closest allies who get away with the cash, leaving Vinces
Big and Little holding the bag.
